On Saturday June 2, Browse & Pick will host their debut clothing swap. At this event women from all over the city will participate by bringing their unwanted clothes they currently have cluttering their closets and exchanging them through a unique swap point system created by founders David and Ann Badillo.After their events, Browse & Pick will not carry over any clothing to future swaps. Today, David and Ann announced they will be donating all remaining clothing to the Salvation Army Family Store in Boerum Hill Brookyln. “We are proud to announce today our decision to donate clothing to the Salvation Army.
My wife and I wanted to make sure that the organization we partnered with had great integrity, was representative of what we believe in as individuals and had a strong presence within the communities that make up North Brooklyn,” Said Co-Founder David Badillo.Along with many other programs and services, the Salvation Army uses the proceeds from their thrift stores to help fund community programs such as housing and homeless services.

Sen. Danny Martiny, R-Kenner, said Thursday he will not pursue bills he has filed to rein in the use of traffic cameras by municipalities this year.Addressing the Senate Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works where two of his three bills were scheduled to be heard, Martiny said that has reached an agreement with the cities where the cameras are being used as well as camera the companies that operate them.He said he will hold a news conference next week to outline the terms of a compromise he has hammered out with the cities, including Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Martiny said he will return to the 2013 legislative session to codify the terms of the agreement.Martiny’s bills set to be heard Thursday were Senate Bill 172, which would have prohibited tickets from being issued unless a drivers had exceeded posted speed limits by at least 10 mph, except in school zones; and Senate Bill 424, which would have required the local governments to set up a more structured adjudicatory and appeal process for tickets other than going to a hearing officer who usually upholds the ticket.Martiny also had Senate Bill 85 in the Senate Committee on Local and Municipal Affairs that would have required voter approval of the traffic cameras and the fines structure before a city could start or continue collecting the tickets fees.
He said that part of the settlement includes setting up a schedule of “speed zone thresholds” at which tickets can be issued. For example, if the speed zone in an area is posted 15 mph, drivers could not get tickets unless they were going at least 20 mph. In an area posted for 45 mph, he said, a ticket could not be issued until the driver was clocked going 9 mph over the limit.New Orleans, he said, issues tickets for exceeding the speed limits by 3 mph. “We worked out a situation that if the ticket is issued below the threshold, the driver can send it back in” and would not have to pay it, he said.

Many photo apps require you to take the picture and add the items later. There are some benefits to doing this, but the hardest thing is not being able to see what the picture will look like before you snap it. All the editing is done to a previously taken photo. Now, I’m a horrible photographer. All of my pictures are blurry or focused in some strange way. Being able to see what I’m doing is a tremendous help to a novice like me.There are four dinosaurs that the app comes with for free. There are bundles that you can pay for, but the four free ones are enough variety for me.
The famous and desirable T-Rex is one of the four. So, never fear. Each dino comes with five different poses. You can also resize them by pinching the screen. As you can see from my poorly taken picture, they can become small enough to sit in a hand, or they can take up the majority of the picture while someone pretends to shrink in fear.Sharing the pictures is also easy. The pictures save automatically to the app’s gallery. You can use Twitter or Facebook to post the picture online. There’s also old-fashioned email. If you want to save it to your camera roll, just hit the save button. It’s that easy. There’s also a trash can for any pics that didn’t make the cut.I also have to give a nod to the developers for the adorable roars and growls added to the loading screen.
The tags are along the lines of “Rounding up dinosaurs. Grawr.” I’m sorry, but they’re cute. Every loading screen has some sort of tag like that and a T-Rex wearing a wristwatch. It’s a great touch.As a last point of interest, I want to hear about your favorite dinosaur in the comments. I’m a personal fan of the utahraptor. The velociraptor was actually the size of a large chicken. The utahraptor was 10 feet tall and 20 feet long. It was the biggest raptor known to man. It also had a massive sickle claw on its hind legs. If I had to pick a dinosaur that would haunt my nightmares, it’d be this one.

Though most current Android smartphones come with high-resolution cameras, most of these pale in comparison to the iPhone 4S’ 8-MP shooter Not only does the average Android camera take lower quality pictures than Apple’s handset, it also takes a lot longer to fire up and shoot. HTC’s new One S phone promises to change all that by providing high-speed shots, an f/2.0 aperture 8-MP lens for improved picture quality, and powerful camera software that provides over a dozen filters, HDR mode and more.
To see which phone takes the best pictures and provides the best overall photo-taking experience, we grabbed an HTC One S and an iPhone 4S and used them to shoot the same subjects. The results may surprise you.When we shot a photo of a stone relief on our office roof with both phones on auto mode, the iPhone 4S’s photo appeared just a bit sharper and more detailed. Considering that the stone was covered with late-afternoon shadows, the iPhone also captured more light, resulting in a brighter image.Both phones support high dynamic range (HDR) photography. HDR photos provide a greater degree of contrast between foreground and background objects by effectively light-metering them differently. So, with HDR enabled, a building should look just as bright and colorful as the blue sky behind it.Unfortunately, after you shoot an HDR photo, you have to wait a good 3 to 4 seconds for it to process.
So you’ll only want to use HDR mode for high-contrast situations where a foreground object is significantly lighter or darker than the scene behind it.To test HDR on both phones, we went up on our roof and shot a picture of some buildings against a blue sky. Though both shots look great, the iPhone 4S’s photo seems just a bit more colorful, particularly when you look at the blue in the sky, the white in the tower and the green in the dome.This photo of a church was also taken in HDR and, as you can see, both the sky and the stone walls of the church appear much brighter and more colorful in the iPhone’s photo.
